What CPIA Does

The CPIA (Cannabis Product Image Analyzer) is a web based tool developed by the California Department of Cannabis Control.

It is meant to assist in assessing whether cannabis products may or may not be appealing to children.

How CPIA Works

  1. You upload one or more product or packaging images.
  2. The tool uses AI Model (OpenAI GPT-5.2 API) to review images, with GPT-4.1 as a backup if needed.
  3. The system reviews each image using the same regulations used by staff.
  4. It creates a compliance report for each image in a clear, structured format.
  5. The final reports appear on screen and can be printed for your records.
